Photonics technology utilizing laser beams is essential
not only for fundamental technology in various research
fields but also for advancing scientific research. We
focus on developing novel optics and photonics
technologies for advanced laser sources and controlling
light waves, targeting to expand into new materials
science involving the interaction between light and
matter. We are interested in controlling the spatial
and temporal “structure” of light, such as amplitude,
phase, polarization, and even temporal waveforms,
which can create novel light properties applicable to
various research fields. The present research topics
include rapid three-dimensional or super-resolution
imaging using structured light, laser nano-processing
by femtosecond laser, and the wavefront control of an
electron beam by the interaction of light and electrons.
