Flexible Design of Polymer Hybrid Nanomaterials

The research objective of our group involves developing well-defined hybrid assemblies organized with wide variety of nanomaterials such as polymer, metal/semiconductor nanoparticles, cellulose nanomaterials, and nanoclusters. Polymer nanosheets made by Langmuir-Blodgett technique serve as key materials to assemble nanomaterials, controlling the distance and the layer structure with nanometer scale precision. Bottom-up design of hybrid polymer assemblies allows us to create new function (related to photonics, electronics, and surface/interface phenomena) and to elucidate the mechanism in terms of structure-property relationship. These approaches will open up new exciting opportunities for flexible optoelectronic nanodevice applications.
